Fundamentals of Sustainment
According to ADP 3-0 (Operations), the sustainment warfighting function is the related tasks and systems that provide support and services to ensure freedom of action, extended operational reach, and prolong endurance.
The Sustainment WFF consists of four elements:
Logistics
Financial Management
Personnel Services
Health Service Support
According to ADP 4-0 (Sustainment) these are the Principles of Sustainment:

Anticipation: The ability to foresee requirements and initiate necessary action
Continuity: the uninterrupted provision of sustainment across all levels of war
Integration: combining all elements of sustainment within operations assuring unity of command
Responsiveness: The ability to react to changing requirements to mee the needs and maintain support
Simplicity: minimize the complexity of sustainment
Improvisation: the ability to adapt sustainment operations to unexpected situations of circumstances affecting a mission.
Survivability: avoid or withstand hostile actions while retaining the ability to fulfill the primary mission
Economy: enable the commander to employ all assets to the greatest effect possible
